Description
For Sale:Used Sony CDX-C90 Car Stereo CD Player. Old school reference auto sound. I have owned this since new. Was installed in one car. This unit has been tested and is fully functional. Comes complete with both wired and wireless remotes, installation, and operator's manuals, mounting sleeve, and trim ring.
Features
Cosmetics:
The buttons, trim ring, controls and the face plate body are gunmetal gray.
Copper Plated Chassis:
The chassis is plated in copper to help shield the unit from noise.
Positive/Negative Display:
The display may be set to show white characters on a blue background (negative) or blue characters on a white background (positive).
Adjustable Display Contrast:
The display contrast may be adjusted for better viewing from various angles and in less than optimum lighting conditions.
Illumination Wire:
This unit is equipped with an illumination wire that dims the display to a preset level when the "Dimmer" feature is set to "Auto" and the vehicle's lights are turned on.
Selectable Display Angle:
The unit may be set to hold the display flat against the front of the unit (normal) or at a 10 or 20 degree angle to the front of the unit.
Switchable Button Illumination:
You can select Amber or Green illumination for the buttons. Please note that the display color stays the same.
Note:
The rotary encoder and the wired remote "Source" button each have a ring of blue illumination around them that is not affected by the button illumination setting.
Optical Digital Output:
This unit is equipped with a non-standard optical mini-jack output for connection to a processor with a digital input. Item 158XAD210 is required to convert the digital output to a standard TOSLINK optical digital connection.
4-volt Front, Rear and Subwoofer Preamplified Outputs:
This unit is equipped with full-range front, rear and subwoofer preamp outputs. Note that the subwoofer output is non-fading.
Low Preamp Output Impedance:
The preamp outputs have an output impedance of 200-ohms; 200-ohms is lower than on many receivers. Low preamp output impedance allows an amplifier or processor connected this unit's preamp outputs to receive a greater portion of the output signal than it would when connected to a head unit with a higher preamp output impedance.
DSP/EQ Control:
This unit will control Sony's Uni-Link EQs (items 158XDP210E and 158XDP766E) and DSP processor (158XDPU50D).
Four 20-bit Burr/Brown D/A converters
Three-second ESP:
This unit is equipped with 3-second electronic shock protection to prevent CD skipping during disturbances lasting up to 3-seconds in duration. Memory buffer is 4 megabits.
VC (Variable Coefficient) Digital Filter:
A filter that lets you change the cutoff characteristics of the digital filter to best match the CD being played and the listening environment in which it is being heard. This feature can only be used for CDs played in this unit; it has no effect on the sound of CDs and/or MiniDiscs played in an optional CD/MD changer. You can set the filter to:
"Plain" for high clarity and strong sound image
"Analog A" or "Analog B" for a warm and deep sound image
"Standard" for a wide ranging, spatial sound image
CD-Text Display:
When playing a CD-Text disc in this unit, the disc name, artist name and track name are displayed (if they have all been recorded on disc). When used with a CD changer with CD Text capability, this unit can display the CD Text information of discs in the CD changer. Unit can be set to scroll CD-text display that is too long.
CD Program Memory:
You can store up to 2 Programs of 12 tracks each for discs in this unit or any optional CD/MD changer. You can play either program or both, and erase a single track or an entire program.
SSIR-EX Tuner
Station Memo:
You can assign a name of up to 8 characters to each of 44 stations. Stations that have been assigned names may be selected by name using the List function.
Adaptive Reception:
This feature has three modes (wide, narrow, auto) for optimizing FM reception. Wide mode decreases the tuner's selectivity but results in better frequency response. Narrow mode has better selectivity for improved adjacent station rejection, but frequency response is not as wide as with the wide mode. The auto mode automatically adjusts the tuner for a good balance between frequency response and minimum station-to-station interference.
Cellular Mute:
Mutes audio when a cellular call is received, then restores the level once the call is over. To use this feature, you
must
have a cellular phone with a muting output that can be connected to the muting input wire.
Source Tone Memory:
Each source (AM/FM/CD and CD/MD-Changer) can store its own bass and treble levels.
Fold-Out Face:
The CD slot is located behind the fold-out face. The face is motorized, for easy loading and unloading access.
Rotary Encoder Control w/ Lever:
In place of electronic up/down buttons, this unit is equipped with a control that turns like a conventional knob (for volume, bass, treble etc) and a lever control (for seek and manual tuning, track advance and track search) for easy, intuitive operation.
You can change the sound and display settings by using the wireless remote:
