Description
A magnificent CHINESE gilt bronze incense burneras the seated
Laughing BUDDHA.
Bronze Buddha is seated on multiple layers of a Lotus blossom throne
and is holding a bowl with a fruit in hands.
Dimensions: 51/2" high, 5 1/2" wide, 4 3/8" deep.
Two-pieces,
the figure lifting off the base to give access to the incense compartment.
Exquisite quality of craftsmanship and fine details.
Very good rich brown patina with remnants of original gilt.
Decorated with fine flowers,
dragons with unusual twisted split-tail as handles.
Signed by the artist on the bottom
(4-characters in seal script.)
As usual, Buddha is in a very good mood!
The inscription on his bag reads "
Gold bag
" (Huang Jing Dai),
a beautiful calligraphy.
