Gorgeous satin finish designs are largely untouched, and the Oxidized Silver finish is in great condition. About as nice as we have ever seen for this issue! As noted by Hibler-Kappen, the designers of this medal commissioned it to be struck with a loop attached at 12 o'clock. Thinking better of this at the last minute, they forcibly removed the loops from each medal before release to the public. Therefore, the resulting damage is technically as-issued. However, the grading services usually count this as damage on those that show more obviously, but that is completely opposite of logic. Many medals of this period were released with crude holes punched in them, and this is not considered damage, etc, etc.
